Victorian Silver Target Brooch
This is a beautiful, authentic Victorian sterling silver target brooch crafted by the prominent silversmiths Blanckensee & Levetus in Birmingham, England, dating to the year 1890. Measuring 3.8 cm in diameter, the brooch is a classic example of late-Victorian Aesthetic Movement design, showcasing a deeply hand-engraved central medallion filled with stylized ivy leaves and scrolling foliate patterns. The central motif is framed by an embossed, multi-pointed sunburst or zig-zag border, which adds sharp geometric contrast to the organic engravings.
The reverse displays clear British hallmarks & makers marks, as well as a classic Victorian T-bar hinged long pin and a C-clasp closure, typical of the era to securely fasten it into heavy wool clothing.
It is in good pre-loved condition, after over 130 years of use, with a small dint in the silver surround on the back that doesn't distract from the brooch. See relevant images.
