A sweet ring set with a deep red oval cabochon garnet and a softly carved band. The stone sits in a smooth 9ct gold bezel setting, which gives it a clean, slightly domed profile. The band has a gold hallmark stamped inside the shank. The shoulders are decorated with a engraved leaf-style pattern that adds texture and detail from the side view. The gold has a warm patina consistent with age.
This ring is assembled with antique components, the 9ct bezel-set stone and 18ct shank are both old, but likely married together at a later date. Even so, the ring is beautifully proportioned, and the two parts sit together harmoniously.
It is very comfortable on the hand and feels secure and balanced to wear, which makes it a lovely antique ring for everyday wear and a thoughtful gift. The deep wine-red tone looks especially good against warm gold.
