'Rippon Minster York' 19th Century Papier Mache Snuff Box. The second 'p' in Rippon was dropped in the late 19th century. This box dates to the first half of the 19th century.
The picture is transfer printed. After the 1779 etching by Thomas Hearne and the engraving by William Byrne and Samuel Middiman to illustrate the book, 'The Antiquities of Great Britain', first published in 1786.
Approximate weight is 17 grams.
Approximate dimensions are 5.2 cm length, 3.2 cm width and 2.1 cm height.
In good condition with some picture wear, especially to the edges. The box and hinge in good order.
