Lieutenant-General Sir Ralph Abercrombie (Abercromby) KB (1734 -1801), A Circular Brass Portrait Snuff Box. He was a Scottish politician and soldier who fought in The French Revolutionary Wars and the West India Campaign. He went on to become Governor of Trinidad and Commander-in-Chief Ireland and Scotland. He died on HMS Foudroyant, from wounds received during the Battle of Alexandria and is buried in St John's Bastion, Fort Saint Elmo, Valletta, Malta.
In good condition with some pressure marks to the cover rim (photo no. 4). Moderate surface wear commensurate with age. The box dates to circa 1801.
