A George V Set of Six Silver & Enamel Teaspoons. Pierced ship's badge & 'HMS RENOWN' to each Terminal. The stems with a ribbon and bell flowers. Each terminal with the ship's badge of a naval crown above a torch surrounded by a wreath. Issued to commemorate her 1923 -1926 refit at HM Dockyard Portsmouth.
The battleship HMS Renown was launched in 1916, after the Battle of Jutland. She saw no action in the First World War and was refitted twice during the inter war years. During the Second World War she was involved in the searches for the Admiral Graf Spee and the Bismarck. She featured in the Norwegian Campaign and the Battle of Cape Spartivento. She was assigned to Gibraltar for convoy duties, before taking part in Arctic convoys during 1942. In 1944 she was transferred to the Eastern Fleet in the Indian Ocean. She was sold for scrap in 1948.
Each spoon is hallmarked for Birmingham 1926 by the Souvenir Manufacturing Co.
Approximate weight for all six silver spoons is 70 grams or 2.2 troy ounces.

In good condition with moderate surface wear. The stems are of short length, normally associated with coffee spoons, but the bowls appear to be teaspoon bowls. The case with exterior wear and the fastener not working.
