A beautiful and highly decorative Art Nouveau brooch by the renowned jewellery designers Murrle Bennett & Co., crafted in 15ct yellow gold and dating to the early 20th century, circa 1900–1910.
The elegant openwork design features a pair of beautifully balanced scrolling gold spirals, characteristic of the flowing, organic forms associated with the Art Nouveau movement.
An oval cabochon turquoise is bezel-set at the top of the brooch, complemented by a delicate seed pearl nestled between the scrolling motifs. Suspended from the lower edge is a charming articulated drop featuring a cluster of three further cabochon turquoise stones, adding movement and colour to the design.
The reverse bears the distinctive Murrle Bennett & Co. maker's plaque, together with a stamped 15ct gold mark, confirming its gold fineness.
Murrle Bennett & Co. were celebrated for their distinctive Arts and Crafts and Art Nouveau jewellery, combining elegant design with fine craftsmanship. Their original pieces remain highly sought after by collectors.
This delightful antique brooch has been professionally polished, enhancing the warm lustre of the gold while retaining its original character and charm.
