A very good quality roman military bronze knee type cloak brooch.
This item which dates to the 1st -2nd century AD, is in excellent condition and still retains its original fastening pin. This particular style, called a knee brooch for obvious reasons ,was also used to fasten tunics as well as cloaks against the elements, especially in the biting winter weather, especially here in England.
A wonderful green patination to the bronze.
Lincolnshire collection formed in the 1970s.
