A vintage Moorcroft vase in the Hibiscus pattern by Walter Moorcroft.
The height is 75mm
A lovely design featuring both red and yellow hibiscus flowers on a dark blue ground.
The hibiscus pattern has been one of Moorcroft's most enduring designs with a number of developments over the years. Originally drawn by Walter Moorcroft c1949 developments included changes in the early 1960's, the coral hibiscus pattern been introduced in 1968 and further designs following on for some years.
The year an item was actually made can be difficult to assess with absolute certainty as some production runs could be quite long, and it was not until 1990 that Moorcroft began using year cyphers to show the actual year of manufacture.
This vase however has the Royal Appointment label of the type used from 1953 to 1978 so combining this with this design information above allows a date assessment of the early 1960's to 1978 to be made. The vase is clearly of genuine vintage age.
Condition:-
Antique and vintage items may have small imperfections and/or idiosyncrasies due to the manufacturing processes of the day, usage perhaps over many years and how an item has been stored. Any significant issues will always be highlighted in the description.
This vase has been closely inspected and assessed as in excellent vintage condition. To perhaps be over pedantic the only possible point worth separate mention is what might be described as 1mm 'pin prick' through the glaze on the side of the vase.
The colours remain bright and on the dark blue ground make for a very attractive item.
