3rd Brahmans, British Indian Army, Regimental Silver Large Cigarette/Cigar Box. The interior with a cedar wood lining and the base leather covered.
This regiment could trace their origins to 1798, when they were the 1st Battalion, 16th Bengal Native Infantry. The regiment was redesignated the 32nd Bengal Native Infantry in 1824 and demonstrated loyalty during the 1857 Indian Mutiny. The 3rd Regiment of Bengal Native Infantry was formed from the 32nd Bengal Native Infantry which served in the Bhurtpore campaign (1824-1826). From 1885, after fighting in the 2nd Afghan War (1878-1880), the unit was known as the 3rd Regiment of Bengal Infantry. The reforms of the Indian Army in 1903 resulted in the unit being renamed the 3rd Brahmans. In World War I the 3rd Brahmans deployed to Egypt, as part of the 22nd Lucknow Brigade, 11th Indian Division and then onto Mesopotamia and finally Muscat. The Regiment was disbanded in 1922.

In very good condition with a few very light pressure marks. The internal wooden divider can be removed, if required, to store cigars.
