The French Charter of 1815 Snuff Box, circa 1820. This was the French Constitution as Requested by Napoleon Bonaparte upon his Return from Exile on Elba.
The top inscription reads:
'Aucun des articles de la charte ne sera revise- vive la charte- Elle a ferme l'abime des revolution', which translates to: 'none of the articles of the charter will be revised - long live the charter - It has closed the abyss of the revolution'.
Approximate dimensions are 9 cm diameter and 1.9 cm height.
Approximate weight is 56 grams.
In good condition with no losses to the picture detail. Minor nibbles around the edge of the cover and base. The interior rim is intact.
